Welcome Back, Goats!
This pixel art animation was designed for the agency STN Digital. The objective was the create fun and entertaining content that would help boost engagement on STN’s social channels. The idea was to announce the return of employees to the office after a long period of working from home during the pandemic. In this fun pixel art animation, I worked together with the creative team to bring this concept to life.
Process
The brief was to create a pixel art animation that celebrated team members returning to the office (team members were referred to as “G.O.A.T’s”, as it is a sports marketing agency). I storyboarded a storyline of a single goat, finally leaving its house, and returning to the office, to find the rest of the team celebrating. I drew inspiration from pixel art games to make it feel like a story, and a fun adventure.
After storyboarding each section, I created all of the individual assets needed, along with animated sprites. This included the full scene background, loading animation, text, and the goat characters. The goat characters had several sprite animations including walking, jumping, and celebrating. I used After Effects to bring it all together.
The content piece served not only as an engaging post for social media, it also served as a marketing tool to demonstrate the cool types of content the agency was able to do.
